Debunking a Big-Ass Myth
There’s something I need to say.
About a common misconception regarding Coaches.
A BIG-ASS MYTH.
It reads as follows:
Coaches have it all-together. We live near-blissful lives, in a state of unending joy.
It’s simply not true. Or realistic. Well, not for me at any rate.
Just like everyone, I have fears.
Which means that I too have low emotional moments. Yup, there are times when I’m annoyed. Angry. Judgmental.
And I still sometimes bask in envy, resentment and even self-pity.
Just not for long.
And THERE’S the difference.
The “old” me wallowed in those uncomfortable emotions.
The “old” me really believed in the illusion. Because, let’s be honest, those emotions feel SO REAL. Right?
But, they’re not.
They’re just the result of whatever I’m thinking. Or focusing on.
And thoughts aren’t real.
They’re just stories. Made up ones.
So, the “new” me understands this. Which means I can NOTICE when I’m caught up in the illusion.
The “new” me knows that thoughts are like weather. They are never static and they ALWAYS pass through. Clouds ALWAYS give way to blue sky.
In accepting this, the “new” me doesn’t try to EFFORT the clouds away. I simply NOTICE them, and ALLOW them to dissipate on their own.
It’s a brilliant system. Right?
Feeling discomfort isn’t bad.
FEELING DISCOMFORT IS NOT BAD.
It’s part of being human.
It’s what propels us towards what feels GOOD…!
It gives us CLARITY. DRIVE. DESIRE.
And once we understand THAT benefit, it shifts the entire (bad) experience.
So, there you have it.
It’s official: I’m human. Just like you.
What a relief…
